Mary grew up mostly in Florida and graduated from Florida State University, Magna Cum Laude, with a BA in Visual Art. She discovered her love of photography while a freshman in high school, the same year she was surprised and honored to receive the Art Award. Mary embraced her new home in Colorado and the love of her life, her husband Joe-- who made the portraits of her on this site--and has lived in Colorodo over 20 years. As a partner in Farace Photography & Communications, she created photojournalistic images for corporations and non-profit organizations, including portraits of celebrities, world leaders, and individuals who made a difference, such as the late philanthropist “Daddy” Bruce Randolph. She also photographed thousand of preschool children and has a gift for relating to and working with kids.

She has been on a 10 year hiatus and has just returned to photography. As a 5 year breast cancer survivor she has a new appreciation for life and life’s images along with a renewed love of photographing people. Her creative eye, connectivity with her clients, and attention to detail allows her not only to make great photographs of people but puts them at ease so they will have “the best portraits the client ever had.”

Along with her husband, Joe Farace, she has designed a pair of backpacks for photographers. The Joe Farace Reporter II is the larger of the two and is designed to hold a 17-inch laptop computer as well as photo gear. The Mary Farace Daypack ($49.95) is designed for both film and digital SLR shooters and is easy and lightweight to carry. You can read more HERE ( as well as order a backpack for yourself.
